What is an Energy Audit?

It is very confusing today as to what an energy audit really is and what is done. Since no offical state licensing exists anyone can call themselves an energy auditor. As a consumer be weary of anyone who does not carry the BPI and RESNET certifications. Ensure, in fact, insist to see a copy of their insurance (professional & liability). Please make sure that at least a blower door is included in the audit. Software modeling is very important so I would inquire as to what software they use and do they plan to model your home in that software.
